Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism has published its Digital News Report 2024, which evaluates the consumption of online news across the world.

The report looks at the growing importance of platforms in news consumption and production, including more visual and video-led social media such as TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, as well as exploring audience attitudes towards the use of AI in news, the role of creators and news influencers, and how much people pay for news.

The organisation, which is based at the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford in the UK, was established in 2006 to explore the future of journalism worldwide through engagement, debate and research.
