The Vice Chairman of The New York Times Company will give the keynote presentation at the 11th WAN-IFRA Middle East Conference in Dubai next month.
Michael Golden will discuss how newspapers are responding to the challenges created by the Internet and associated technologies through constant innovation and implementing new ideas and business models, with conference delegates set to learn how The New York Times undertook this transformative journey.
Golden has been Vice Chairman of The New York Times and a member of the Company's Board of Directors since 1997. He served as president and chief operating officer of The New York Times Company Regional Media Group from 2009 to January 2012, and was publisher of the International Herald Tribune, now the International New York Times, from 2003 to 2008.
He was also elected WAN-IFRA Vice President in June 2015 and is in line for the association's Presidency when Tomas Brunegård's term ends in June 2017, having been elected by WAN-IFRA members during last year's World Newspaper Congress, World Editors Forum and World Advertising Forum in Washington, D.C.
More than 200 publishers, CEOs, chief editors, managing directors and other senior news publishing executives are expected to attend the conference in Dubai from February 24-25, which also features the Middle East Digital Media Awards.
