New Editor-in-Chief for Asharq Al-Awsat

Lebanese journalist Ghassan Charbel has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper.

He joins the Saudi-owned pan-Arab daily newspaper from Al Hayat, where he has been Editor-in-Chief since 2004.

Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al-Saud, Chairman of publishers Saudi Research and Marketing Group, said: "The appointment is in line with the future vision of the group to enable the best media leaders to help improve all publications and lead them.

"Ghassan Charbel is a household name in journalism and cultural arena. He has gained exceptional experience over the course of his long career in journalism."

Prince Badr thanked outgoing Editor-in-Chief, Salman Al-Dosary, who will continue as a columnist at Asharq Al-Awsat.
