Online TV network Netflix is now available in most of the MENA region after the company made its entertainment streaming service available in more than 130 new countries yesterday.
The announcement and start of the service were announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas by Co-founder and Chief Executive, Reed Hastings.
“Today you are witnessing the birth of a new global Internet TV network,” he said. “With this launch, consumers around the world -- from Singapore to St. Petersburg, from San Francisco to Sao Paulo - will be able to enjoy TV shows and movies simultaneously - no more waiting. With the help of the Internet, we are putting power in consumers’ hands to watch whenever, wherever and on whatever device.”
Netflix charges a monthly fee for access to thousands of TV shows and movies, with Arabic having now been added to its supported languages and regional twitter accounts @Netflix_ME and @NetflixUAE launched.
The few countries where Netflix is not currently available include Syria, China and North Korea.
