MENA pay-TV network OSN has announced the appointment of Martin Stewart as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Currently Chief Financial Officer of The Football Association (The FA) in the UK, Stewart has previously served as Director General of Spanish Broadband provider, ONO, and as CFO for British multinational music recording and publishing company EMI.
Prior to that he was Chief Financial Officer for Sky in the UK from 1998 to 2004, during which time, Sky launched its digital platform and doubled its subscriber base to 7 million.
He has also held a non-executive role on the OSN board since March 2015, which he retained among various directorships including with The Department of Energy & Climate Change (UK).
Stewart will take over from David Butorac, who has served as OSN’s CEO since 2010 and has spearheaded a number of developments including the launch of the digital platforms OSN Play, Go online TV, and OSN Store.
Stewart, who takes up his new post from 1st August 2016, commented: “I am delighted to take charge as the Chief Executive Officer of OSN. The business is well positioned to take advantage of new opportunities and I am confident that we have the team, network and resources to gain a stronger foothold across the region. The rise in digital content, smart TVs and smartphone penetration together with a youthful population affords an exciting opportunity for growth in the future.”
