The pilot issue of monthly arts and culture magazine magpie has been released online, with plans to start publishing in print from January 2016.
Covering people, events and important debates within the burgeoning arts scene in the Gulf, the magazine will feature fine art, sculpture and 3D work, literature, film, photography, music, theatre and dance.
Editor-in-Chief and General Manager, Dennis Jarrett began crowd-funding for the magazine last month to support the launch.
“The arts scene in the Gulf is booming," he said. "It needs a magazine that can describe, document, inform, entertain, discuss, promote, and generally support the broad sweep of artistic and cultural activity here."
Jarret was formerly Editorial Director at Turret Media in Abu Dhabi, and returned to the company earlier this year to help launch Dubai Week.
