Abdul Hamid Ahmad has stepped down as Editor in Chief of Gulf News after almost a quarter of a century at the helm of the Dubai-based English newspaper.
“I am proud of my achievements through these years,” he said. “I built a strong, professional team, who helped me face the challenges that the traditional media has been facing over the last two decades by transforming the media house from being print-centric to digital first.”
A renowned Emirati short story writer, he began his literary journey in the early 1970s, contributing to prominent publications like Akhbar Dubai and Al Ahli, before entering the world of journalism, where he held influential editorial roles at Al Azmanat Al Arabiya, Al Ittihad and Al Bayan, before joining Gulf News as Editor in Chief in July 2001.
