The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has launched a weekly health supplement in partnership with Gulf News to encourage Dubai residents to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Better Health is an eight-page supplement distributed with the English-language newspaper on Mondays covering workout and fitness trends, food and nutrition issues, as well as mental health and general well-being.

H.E. Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, said: “Prevention and well-being are the focal points of the DHA’s Dubai Health Strategy 2016-21 and community outreach programs are important to educate people on how to lead a healthier life.

“In keeping up our drive to make Dubai a healthier and happier place to live, we have partnered with Gulf News to publish Better Health. It is an eight-page weekly broadsheet that will not only communicate DHA’s policies, strategies, rules and regulations with the readers, but will help us establish a platform where we can share, discuss and interact with Dubai’s community members on how to lead a healthy lifestyle.”

The DHA has already collaborated with Al Bayan newspaper for a health supplement in Arabic, and the partnership with Gulf News aims to reach out to the English-speaking community.

Abdul Hamid Ahmad, Editor-in-Chief & Executive Director of Publications at Al Nisr Publishing, said: “Gulf News shares the vision of the DHA to ensure the community in Dubai lives a happier and healthier life. I applaud the DHA for using the media as a vehicle to reach out to the masses and promote health awareness and disease prevention, which is important to help community members take responsibility for their own health and well-being.

“Prevention has a huge impact not only for improving lives but also in managing costs of health expenditure. Through the supplement, we aim create an awareness about the bounty of options available for Dubai’s community members to pursue a healthy lifestyle locally.”
