Ahmed Al Omran re-joins Financial Times as Saudi Correspondent

Ahmed Al Omran has re-joined the Financial Tines as the London-based newspaper’s Saudi Arabia Correspondent, covering news from the kingdom and the Gulf.

He was formerly the newspaper's Saudi Arabia Correspondent from May 2017 to October 2020.

Born and raised in Hofuf, eastern Saudi Arabia, Ahmed graduated with a master’s degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York and worked for National Public Radio in Washington DC before returning to Saudi Arabia to become a correspondent for The Wall Street Journal between 2013 and 2017.

He was a Knight-Bagehot Fellow in 2021-2022. Earlier in life, his blog Saudi Jeans was one of the most well-known and long-standing blogs in the Middle East. His work has also appeared in other major publications such as the New York Times, The Guardian and Foreign Policy.
